My business career began, unusually, with a love of animals that led to a BSC in Zoology, closely followed by an MSc in Environmental Management. The latter allowed me to land a trainee role in Environmental Management Consulting where I discovered my commercial flair and also a passion for understanding the challenges a client had and delivering effective solutions. It was this realisation that prompted my subsequent move into recruitment where listening, understanding and proposing solutions is essentially the focus of everything we do.

I joined an outer-London office of a large global recruiter and quickly rose through the ranks to become Regional Director, managing 30 people across 4 offices. This high intensity career phase helped me to appreciate the importance of developing long-term business relationships and also the difficulty in doing so within a large, listed recruitment business where short-term pressures abound. It also enabled me to indulge my passion for travel and motor racing, the latter an expensive, life-long fascination I developed growing up in Britain where motorsport is huge. I was lucky enough to compete in ‘Caterham 7’ Sportscars, MG and Mazda Championships and ultimately The British Formula Ford Championship and to survive some very impressive accidents, each the result of talent deserting me mid-corner.

Annual holidays in Australia inspired me to move permanently to Sydney in 2007 and to work in a smaller business with a focus on recruiting executive and board level roles and building those long-term relationships I so value. Having done so successfully for 5 years, my desire was to run a business and I was fortunate to be introduced to Hamish and Ben, the founding Directors of Marshall McAdam. We began to explore opening a Sydney office to replicate the success of their Melbourne operation and ultimately to raise the bar for consultative recruitment in NSW.

I joined Marshall McAdam in 2013 and began the immensely exciting journey of building the Sydney team based on the shared values of collaboration and respect. It is fantastic to work with a team of people whose passion for what they do is so apparent. As someone with significant recruitment experience, I know that is both highly desirable and hard to find.

We are very focussed on delivering a high quality, consultative service across our professional networks and it is hugely satisfying to help people connect, solve business challenges, develop careers and build better relationships.
