How we helped a global financial services giant fill a critical role over Christmas

The Brief:

EmergingMarshall McAdam was engaged exclusively to search for a Regional Financial Controller for a financial services company listed on the London Stock Exchange.  The company has global operations and its APAC headquarters is based in Melbourne.  The Regional Financial Controller - APAC is the most senior finance role for the APAC region and reports to the Group Financial Controller based in the UK. 

The Challenge:

Marshall Mcadam was briefed in December 2013 to fill a critical executive hire for this international client during a time when recruitment activity in Australia typically slows down.  We were given a tight deadline to work with and had to deliver our final shortlist to the Group FC by 17 January 2014 so that an offer could be made to the successful candidate by early February 2014.

Our Approach:

We personally met the Group CFO and Group FC while they were in Melbourne. We took a detailed brief and agreed on a delivery timeline.  We applied a multi-channel sourcing strategy which included interrogating our database of finance executives, networking for referrals, advertising the role on various job boards and conducting an extensive targeted search utilising social media tools and other traditional search methods.  We provided regular communication updates to the client throughout the recruitment process informally over email and formally via telephone conferences and demonstrated our flexibility to be available during UK and local time zones.  

The Outcome:

We presented our final shortlist of five outstanding candidates to the Group FC in line with the time frame previously agreed.  The Group FC was impressed, commenting directly on the “good range of experience and skills” we put forward.  The Group FC requested an interview with all five candidates.  Two of the candidates were selected to progress to second and subsequent interviews.  An offer was made to the successful candidate early in February 2014.  The client was very happy with the outcome and with Marshall McAdam’s understanding of the brief and high quality standards of service.
