Originally from Canada, I attended Mount Allison University on an academic and sports scholarship and was a competitive swimmer while at university. I studied a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with minors in Environmental Studies and Psychology, then later pursued a Master of Science in Biological Sciences.
I enjoy trying new things and challenging myself, so I have worked in a few different industries across my career. I spent time working for a geophysical company in Western Canada and the Arctic, then worked in the US in the same industry contracting to large oil and gas companies as an Environmental Consultant and Team Leader. I then moved to Calgary, Alberta where I worked as the Team Lead in a leading Genetics Laboratory.
I took some time off from work to volunteer and travel through Central and South America, which eventually led me to Australia. I was interested in a career that would allow me to continue to make an impact and help people while working on my public presentation skills and mentoring others. This led me to a career in direct sales and later recruitment, where I could interact with a dynamic team and represent amazing clients and candidates.
My role at Marshall McAdam involves sourcing top talent across the entire spectrum of finance, accounting and commercial disciplines. I specialise in contract recruitment, and I enjoy the speed and diversity of this specialist area. I enjoy using my strong student mentality and emotional intelligence to advise our clients on the best candidate fit based on the specifics of their organisation.
I really enjoy being a part of the mentoring process at Marshall McAdam because of the highly specialised knowledge of the staff. The induction process has allowed me to get up to speed quickly and efficiently, which has been invaluable. I also really enjoy the collaborative environment where colleagues share information and give valuable insight to each other continuously.
In my spare time, I am passionate about volunteering for non-profit organisations and charities. I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for about 10 years, doing various builds across North America, from the Arctic to Mexico and Central America. I have also volunteered with local animal charities in Canada as well as conservation charities which have taken me to places like Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Mexico and Chile on environmental projects. I especially love coastal conservation (sea turtles are my favourite!) and I have volunteered with Sea Shepherd here in Australia since my arrival in 2017.
